Default Eyes?

I remember a discussion that went on about default skins that people were using, which made me start to wonder, what default eyes (and non default, for that matter) does everyone use?

I recently had to redownload stuff and I'm thinking it through a little more this time. So what eyes are your favorite? I'm currently thinking of using Lyran's default eyes (I have this odd thing about staying loyal to normal maxis content, I use Lyran's skins, but as non-default).

Do you go for more realistic or keep them looking closer to the Maxis default?

I think it depends on what you're looking for. I also use Lryan's default eyes and skin but I like my sims to look simmish and not too real. On the other hand I find other's real looking sims pretty as well just not for me.

I use Rensim's eyes and SimCribbling's skins.

I try to stay close to Maxis-style, but I like that the skins I have are a little less...flat, I suppose. Not totally realistic, but they've got a little more tone to them. The eyes I got because I was sick of not being able to tell the difference between grey, blue, and green eyes (and Rensim's are so pretty!)

i use lyran's eyes, and simcribbling's skins.

i LOVE lyran's eyes, because they come in a ton of colors and they're all so pretty.

Lyran's are my favorite. I don't like the whole realistic sim thing.

i use lyran's everything. i tried some regular "shiny" skins and they looked good on the girls, but not the guys :(..

yeah, my first new-default skin is shiny in the face and my guys look silly.

I use SimCribbling's skins, and Barcelonista's V7 defaults from MTS2. I actually change them around a lot, cuz I've not yet found skins or eyes that I totally love and can live with. So sometimes I end up using Lyran's skins (the skins are always switching between those 2), and sometimes SC's. Eyes... all over the place. I don't even know. :-P

I use Lyran's eyes and I love them, immensely. I love her skintones, too. My only gripe and it's a tiny one, is she has the nipples positioned a bit.. high.. So even clothes I don't want them showing.. they show a touch. :p (I need to learn how to make small adjustments to default skintones and then set them for default skins again. I know how to change them if they AREN'T going to be default skintones, though.

That is my thing with Lyran's skintones, too. The maids were always popping out of their tops, and some other outfits are affected, too. I'd go back to Lyran skins in a heartbeat if I knew how to do what you're talking about, with setting them back to default again.

Oh, another vote for Lyran's eyes -- I like the Maxis cartoony look, but Maxis eyes are a bit spooky and flat. Lyran's eyes are still cartoony but have sparkle and depth. For alien eyes, I use wicca_gal's defaults from MTS2.

I have to wonder if Lyran is even aware of how revealing her skintones are when using clothing that isn't supposed to be necessarily revealing.
I mean if I want something to show stuff, sure, fine, but those little Raver outfits from Maxis show all, too. O.o

I don't see how she couldn't =/ Maybe we should write her about it?

Wrote her a note, she said she has no time to fix or change them and she doesn't see any problems on the clothing she uses. *sighs* So I guess all of us folks who love her skins are stuck with nipples poking out when they shouldn't.

The flatness of Maxis does upset me, but yes, I tend to go for the cartoony look. I suppose it has something to do with them being pixel beings, though I don't mind how realistic eyes look on some Sims, if done properly and everything else matches, as opposed to clashing or the skin and the eyes looking absolutely opposite >.< I've never tried it, but I wonder how Lyran's skintones would pair off with realistic eyes. I'll have to try that :)

I do have a set of eyes I like from Ninny, they have a bit of a shine to them, but they still have the pixely cartoon look, with a nice depth so they aren't terrifyingly flat. :)

<.< I've noticed that. I don't use the as defaults, but I do use them a lot when creating Sims in the CAS and it does put a damper on some of the outfits I like when their nipples are popping out. <.< Never fun :P I don't even know how to make the adjustments to any normal skin -blush- Could you adjust it as you normally would, and then turn that skin into a default? I know there's a tut out there somewhere to doing that.

open file in SimPE, export the graphics you want to edit, edit them, import them again. Hit commit, save.

*frowns* I tried it, it didn't work. ~,~ I really must be stupid. Hit commit, save, all of that (after importing the textures) it still shows up as before in my Body Shop

I use a set of defaults I made from Ninny's eyes. Not too realistic, but far from looking Maxis-y. I'm not one for over the top realism in the game. No pores or veins for me, thanks.

I'm using old skins from Helaene, and am currently trying Barcelonista's eyes (V.4, I think). But I find the brown too light, so I might either switch to someone else, or edit the eyes to be darker.

I haven't found custom default eyes I'm happy with - I like somewhat realistic eyes, but most have way too much dark, which looks bad when sims do something that has them have their eyes wide open. I may have to cobble together various colors from different eye-sets into a default set of my own.

I'm using SimCribbing's skins and old Helaene eyes for my defaults -- I changed the light blue color to violet for more variety, and I made the Helaene eyes default myself.

I never thought of that, changing the blue to a different color. I might have to try that some time.

I don't use skin default replacements, only default eye replacements. For those I use Barcelonista's (MTS2) default set.

I love Rensim's default eyes. Exnem also makes really nice eyes that you can make your own default set out of. For skins I use SimCribbling's, but I think that I might switch to the version by a different creator, can't remember the name at the moment, because this other version doesn't have the belly button ring and eyebrows as part of the skin. And I tend to make my sims look more realistic. I recently noticed that the Maxis look isn't that bad, but I just prefer a more realistic look.

They're on shinysims, I think. I really like that version of simcribbling's skins, but I can't bring myself to use them. The bright red gums on the toddlers are a real dealbreaker for me and I cringe anytime I see someone post a picture of a toddler using those skins with the gums showing (and glowing red). *lol*

I use the maxis default skin tones, besides my alienskin with Tattoos. And the Bartelonista eyes.

I also use Rensim's eyes, I think they're gorgeous.

For a long time I used NicMcD's, they're excellent if you want something that's on the toony side but better quality than Maxis. Bright, clear colors and they look great in-game.

I'm using Ninny's neutral eyes made default by refined_android
http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=169563

I like them pretty well.

I've been swapping around default skins. My problem is that now that I have a top-end computer I can set everything to high -- and I see every fault in custom content. I see the seams in skins, the weird little problems eyelashes have with eyes, when a texture was compressed too much or obviously designed to look optimal on a computer that would make everything a little fuzzy. Blah.

If I were a better artist I'd make my own defaults, but I'm not sure I can pull it off.

I use default and cas skins (realskin_fullpack003) made by XNM @ The Sims Vault, along side the eyes that were posted on MTS2 by the same creator.

I can't stand how darker skin tones typically look in game. The Real Skins are a paid download, but I couldn't see my game without them. I'm anti-cartoony when it comes to the Sims.

I use these default skins and these default eyes, although I switch the eyes around a lot. Haven't found a set I'm stuck on yet.
