Totally lame question.

I've always played TS2 on a desktop, and today I played it for the first time on my new notebook (yes, it looked sweet). However, I encountered a problem I found pretty bothersome. I have an optical mouse for the laptop, with a scroll, and everything, but I can't seem to move the camera by depressing the scroll and moving the mouse -- you know, it makes it move horizontally or vertically in a sort of circular motion. This is kind of a big deal, because if you are at too high of an angle, it's (as far as I can tell) the only way to get it back down to an ordinary level. So I guess I have two questions:

1) Is it just just this particular optical mouse that isn't working correctly? Or is it just something that is impossible to do in the game when it's played on a laptop? (I can't imagine what people playing without a mouse do ...)

2) Or is there an alternative way of doing this, like a combination of keys?

I'm sorry if this something simple which is covered in the strategy guide or whatever. I can't find my original guide, and I've been playing the game on the same computer, in the same way, for so long, it's kind of shocking to not be able to do something so ordinary! :P

I added a sizable list of tags to the community tonight. After you update, you can click the button on the entry page (looks like ) or use the "edit tags" link on the community page or on your friends page in most styles. You should then be able to choose from the list of provided tags. You can also type in tags while updating, but it's not as convenient.

Please keep in mind that you should only add relevant tags; no piling on every tag imaginable. Please try to be logical about it. There are some more 'subtle' situations: for example, if you're posting your legacy story update, please use just "stories: legacy". You don't need to also add "stories: general".

Any member of the community can add tags to entries, but only maintainers can remove tags or add new tags to the list. If you want a tag added, this is the place to ask for it. The removal bit is a limitation of the system, unfortunately, or I'd set it to let any member also remove tags.

Since we can't see who adds which tags, we simply ask that you be respectful and logical if you're adding tags to entries you didn't write; if this doesn't work out, we'll have to switch to only maintainers doing anything with tags, or get rid of it altogether.

With all that kept in mind, I am adding tags to recent-ish entries, but I am definitely not going back through all 12,400+ entries to tag them! We still have both memories and community search to provide you with a very full set of archiving features. Please take the time to use ALL of them before asking questions!

And last but not least I've changed the community's style, which I hope makes the search function more prominent and in general the community prettier. ;) It may yet get tweaked some more, though.

4 new houses

My darling hubby gave me the new Pets ep for Christmas. That's really saying a lot, because he hates this game with a passion, maybe he's loosening up? 8^)

Anyway, I had some houses already built and wanted to upload them to my sims2 journal before installing Pets, so that folks without Pets could still use the houses. You do need UNI, NL and OFB to use these houses.

Under the cut, you will find one teaser picture of each house, as well as a link to the entry. Please folks, if you download the houses, please take a moment to comment that you have. So far, I get about one person commenting for every 10 that download. I love the comments, and they don't take long, not nearly as long as it takes to build and upload a lot! You can comment here or at my sims2 journal, either is great!

I hope you enjoyed today's tour of homes, even if you don't download any.

My last house post was Aug 27, 2006. I did make a question post with no pictures yesterday, but that doesn't count, right?

The McKnight Not!Legacy: Generation 4.1

Another update so soon! I've been having fun playing so far, so I've gotten enough done for another update. I've also revamped the preview pics because everyone else's look so nice all the time and mine look like poo. So, there you have it.

Not as big as some other updates, but, I hope you enjoy! Some of the images are coming out grainy to me, so I apologize in advance.

( Off you go! )

Legacy Update!

Well, here we are again, post-Christmas, relaxing and wondering what to do with ourselves. Well, I'll tell you what to do! Read my new legacy update, where we hear Gavin say, "MAN, MY BUTT HURTS!" Sounds thrilling, doesn't it?? Of COURSE it does.

WARNING! As usual, this update features everyone's favorite thing, swearing and nudity!

Glitches: cafeteria worker and scoping the room

The cafeteria worker in my Sims' dorm doesn't cook. She'll clean up the dishes from meals other Sims cook, but she doesn't make anything herself. She just stands in front of the oven all day long. Forcing an error doesn't help. What gives? Is there any way to generate a new cafeteria worker, or just fix this one?

Also, one of my Sims never has the Scope Room option when she interacts with herself. Her brother does, though. Aren't all Sims supposed to have it?

Blocked Path?

Is there any way to find out what is supposedly blocking a Sims' path? The thought bubble doesn't help, it's just this:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I can't get her into bed. I've tried removing every single other object from the room except for her and the bed...I've tried selling the bed and buying a new one...I've tried getting her to walk closer to the bed and then tell her to go to sleep. Nothing. She insists there's something in her way, even when the room is empty. Meanwhile, she's been sleeping in that bed for days with no problem and nothing has been added to the room.

So is there any force error or anything to figure out what this invisible object is?
